Monitoring

Uptime, errors and performance watched continuously.

What is website and app monitoring?

Monitoring means watching your website or app automatically, around the clock: whether it’s up, whether errors are appearing, whether pages are slowing down and whether connected services and scheduled jobs are still working. When something goes wrong, we get an alert first, instead of hearing it from a customer.

What problem does monitoring solve?

Most website problems aren’t dramatic. A form stops sending, a payment provider changes something, a nightly job quietly fails. Nobody notices until a customer rings to ask why they haven’t heard back, and by then you’ve lost days of enquiries.

Monitoring checks the things that matter on a schedule and raises an alert the moment one fails. Problems are found and fixed sooner, and you hear about them from us, with what was done about it.

What you get

Continuous monitoring with alerts, so issues are found and fixed before customers notice.

Monitoring

What’s included

  • Uptime monitoring

Regular checks that the site or app is reachable, with an alert when it isn’t.

  • Error tracking

Errors that visitors hit are recorded, so they can be fixed even if nobody reports them.

  • Performance checks

Slowdowns spotted before they cost you visitors.

  • Integration and scheduled-job checks

Forms, connected services and background tasks checked as well as the site itself.

  • Alerts

The right person told quickly when something fails.

  • Incident notes

A short record of what happened, what was fixed and how to stop it happening again.

Who monitoring suits

A good fit for

  • Online bookings, payments and portals. Where every hour of downtime is lost business.
  • Businesses that rely on their site for enquiries. A broken form is invisible until you notice the phone has gone quiet.
  • Applications with integrations. Connected services change without warning; monitoring catches it.

Probably not the right fit if

  • The site is a simple brochure nobody relies on day to day.
  • You already have monitoring and someone who responds to the alerts.
  • You need a person watching it 24/7. Monitoring is automatic; responses are in business hours.

How it works

How it works

  1. 01

    Set the signals

What must always work, and how quickly problems must be noticed.

  2. 02

    Watch

Automatic checks and alerts, around the clock.

  3. 03

    Respond

Fix, then record what happened and how to prevent it.

How long does monitoring take to set up?

It’s set up in the first week or two of a care plan, as part of stabilising the site or app, and then runs continuously from there.

How much does monitoring cost?

Monitoring is included in every care plan, with uptime checks and backups on website care, and monitoring with alerts and daily backups on app care. It isn’t sold on its own, because an alert is only useful if someone acts on it.

Questions

About monitoring

Will we know when something goes wrong?

Yes. You’re told when an incident affects your customers, and what was done about it.

Does monitoring include integrations?

Yes. Connections to other systems and scheduled jobs are checked as well as the site itself.

Who responds to the alerts?

We do, during business hours, within the response times in your agreement, and the same day for app outages.

Can you monitor a site you didn’t build?

Yes. We start with a technical review, so we know what to watch and what “normal” looks like for your system.

Will monitoring slow our site down?

No. The checks run from outside your site, and error tracking adds a negligible amount to each page.
