iOS & Android
Mobile apps for both platforms from a shared codebase, through to app store release.
What’s involved in building an iOS and Android app?
An iOS and Android app is a mobile app people install from the App Store or Google Play. We build both from one shared codebase, with offline behaviour, notifications and the store submissions handled, so you get two apps without paying for two separate builds.
What problem does a mobile app solve?
Some products are used on the go, many times a day, or where the signal drops out. A website on a phone can’t send a notification, work offline or sit on the home screen one tap away.
Building two separate native apps doubles the cost and the upkeep, and keeping them in step is hard. One shared codebase gives you both platforms, with one set of features to maintain.
What you get
One shared codebase for iOS and Android, with the offline behaviour, notifications and store release handled.

Offline behaviour and sync
The app keeps working without signal and syncs when it reconnects.
Push notifications
Reminders and updates that reach people even when the app is closed.
Testing on devices
Checked on real iOS and Android devices before release.
Store preparation and release
Listings, screenshots, review submissions and launch on both stores.
Who an iOS and Android app suits
A good fit for
- Products used mainly on phones. Daily-use tools where opening a browser each time gets in the way.
- Apps that need offline access or notifications. Field work, reminders or anywhere the signal is unreliable.
- Businesses extending a web product to mobile. Your existing platform, in your customers’ pockets.
Probably not the right fit if
- People use it a few times a year. A web app that works on phones is cheaper and easier.
- You don’t need offline access, notifications or the home screen. A responsive web app may be enough.
- You want the app before the core product is working. Prove the web version first.

How long does it take to build a mobile app?
Store apps are usually built on top of an app’s first version, which takes 8–12 weeks. App store review then adds time that Apple and Google control, usually days rather than weeks. We confirm the timeline in your fixed quote.
How much does an iOS and Android app cost?
Store apps are an add-on to an app’s first version, included in the same fixed quote. The stores charge their own fees: Apple US$99 a year and Google US$25 once.

Questions
About iOS & Android
Do we need an app, or will a web app do?
If people need offline access, notifications or use it many times a day on a phone, an app often makes sense. Otherwise a web app that works well on phones may be enough. We’ll give you an honest view.
Do you handle the app stores?
Yes. We prepare the listings and manage submission and review for both stores.
Why one codebase instead of two native apps?
Two separate apps double the cost and the maintenance, and keeping them in step is hard. One shared codebase covers both, and features reach every user at the same time.
Can the app work without internet?
Yes, where it’s designed in. The app stores what people need on the device and syncs changes when the connection returns.
What does a mobile app cost to keep running?
Expect the store fees, hosting for the system behind the app, and updates as iOS and Android change. A care plan covers support and updates.
