Website design

Art direction, layout and typography built around your brand and the customers you want.

What is website design?

Website design is the art direction, layout, typography and page structure of your site, built around your brand and the customers you want. We design the key pages first, review them with you as working pages in the browser, then build the rest of the site from the same rules.

What problem does good website design solve?

Visitors decide in seconds whether a business looks credible and whether it does what they need. A site that looks like every template in its category, or buries the service and the contact details, gives them no reason to stay.

Good design makes the important things obvious: what you do, where, why you’re the right choice and how to get in touch. It also gives the site a consistent system, so new pages look right without being redesigned each time.

What you get

A distinct, consistent design system: key pages designed and reviewed in the browser, and the rest of the site built from the same rules.

Website design

What’s included

  • Art direction

A visual language for your site: colour, type and imagery that fit your brand and your customers.

  • Key page layouts

The homepage, a service page and the enquiry path, designed first because they do the most work.

  • Responsive design

Layouts for phone, tablet and desktop, reviewed at every size.

  • Component rules

Shared buttons, cards and sections, so every later page stays consistent.

  • Accessibility

Colour contrast, readable type sizes and clear focus states built in from the start.

  • Reviews in the browser

You review working pages, not static pictures, so what you approve is what goes live.

Who website design suits

A good fit for

  • Businesses replacing a dated or template site. When the site no longer reflects the quality of the work.
  • New businesses establishing a brand online. A first site that looks established from day one.
  • Teams whose site no longer matches how they sell. New services, new customers or a new price point the old site doesn’t explain.

Probably not the right fit if

  • You need a site live in a week. Even a starter website usually takes three to five weeks.
  • You’d rather pick a template and build it yourself. A website builder will suit you better.
  • You already have a design you’re happy with. See web development instead.

How it works

How it works

  1. 01

    Understand the audience

Who visits, what they need to decide and what makes your business the right choice.

  2. 02

    Design the key pages

Homepage, a service page and the enquiry path first, reviewed with you as working pages.

  3. 03

    Extend the system

The remaining pages follow the same components, so the site stays consistent as it grows.

How long does website design take?

A starter website, designed and built together, usually takes three to five weeks. Larger sites take longer, depending on the number of pages, the copywriting and any integrations. We confirm the timeline in your fixed quote.

How much does website design cost?

It depends on the number of pages, whether you need copywriting and any integrations. Every website gets a fixed quote after a free 30-minute call, covering scope, price and timeline, before any work starts.

Questions

About website design

Do you design from templates?

No. Each site is designed around the business and its customers. We do reuse a consistent component system within your site, so pages stay coherent and quick to extend.

Can you work with our existing brand?

Yes. We work within an existing brand, or extend it where the web needs things the brand guidelines don’t cover, such as interface states and responsive layouts.

Do you write the copy?

We can, as an add-on to the build. If you write your own, we’ll guide you on structure and length, so the pages work for visitors and for search engines.

Can we update the site ourselves?

Yes. Every website includes an editor so your team can change text, images and pages, and a training call at launch.

What happens after launch?

Every website includes a 30-day warranty. After that, a care plan covers hosting, updates, backups, monitoring and small changes, month to month.
